What is Your Favorite Musical Documentary?

I really.liked the Some Kind of Monster docu. I was very surprised at some the treatment Jason Newstead received during the Metallica years. At the start I kinda thought to myself are they crazy for bringing in the psychology doctor but it worked! And I was proved wrong. Overall it was a really great movie. I also really liked Amazing Journey : The story of The Who. I really Love The Who


Recently, Rolling Stone Magazine has released their list of the 40 Best Rock Documentaries of all time.  Composed of many essential classics and big-name pictures, from Led Zeppelin’s The Song Remains The Same to Woodstock, I found it hard to disagree with the selections.  So for today’s question, I thought I’d ask what’s your favorite musical documentary?


I listen to primarily metal, and Metallica was the band that really got me into the genre, which is why I say that they’re my favorite band (though I often alternate between them, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Zeppelin, or the Rolling Stones), despite of “Load” or “Reload.”  Some Kind of Monster is a great picture of the band in crisis mode, stripping the band of any defenses as James, Lars, and Kirk talk honestly about Napster, Newsted’s departure, and inner tension during the making of “St. Anger.”  Gimme Shelter is…
